Suarez and his teams are determine to win the Olympics. Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) revealed on Monday, July 9, 2012 the list of Uruguay Soccer Rosters as follows:

Squad:
Goalkeepers: Martin Campana (Cerro Largo), Leandro Gelpi (Penarol)
Defenders: Sebastian Coates (Liverpool), Diego Polenta (Genoa), Ramon Arias (Defensor Sporting) , Alexis Rolin (Nacional), Emiliano Albin (Penarol), Matias Aguirregaray (Palermo)
Midfielders: Egidio Arevalo Rios (Tijuana), Maximiliano Calzada (Nacional), Diego Rodriguez (Defensor Sporting), Gaston Ramirez (Bologna), Nicolas Lodeiro (Ajax Amsterdam), Jonathan Urretaviscaya (Vitoria de Guimaraes)

Uruguay are back in the Olympics soccer tournament for the first time since they won successive gold medals in 1924 and 1928.

Uruguay are in Group A with hosts Britain, Senegal and United Arab Emirates.

London 2012 Olympic Games: Qualified Boxers’ List (Men and Women)

300px Boxing pictogram.svg  London 2012 Olympic Games: Qualified Boxers’ List (Men and Women)AIBA announced last week the 286 Boxers whom will compete at the London 2012 Olympic Games. 250 men and 36 women boxers have qualified for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The women boxing competition will have their debut in the Olympics. 

Women will compete in three weight categories (48-51kg, 57-60kg and 69-75kg) while men will be competing in ten weight divisions, from Light Fly to Super Heavyweight, with 91 having qualified at the AIBA World Boxing Championships Baku 2011, 146 through the Continental Qualifying Events, five via the inaugural World Series of Boxing season’s Individual Championships and finally eight selected as part of the Tripartite process.

Games will be held at ExCeL Exhibition Centre ,  from 28 July–12 August.

Nigeria Earned Final Olympic Basketball Spot Defeating Dominican Republic

IkeDiogu Nigeria Earned Final Olympic Basketball Spot Defeating Dominican RepublicCARACAS, Venezuela Nigeria is now in a position to be happy, Nigeria earned the Final slot in the London 2012 Olympics upon defeating the Dominican Republic on Sunday night, July 8, 2012 with a 88-73 score. Ike Diogu lead the game with 25 points score.

“I’m very happy. We did what had to be done,” Diogu said. “We knew we were going to face teams that are heavyweights, and we did what we needed to do – win.”

On the other hand, Yack Martinez led the Dominican Republic with 16 points with coached Kentucky coach John Calipari. Russia and Lithuania also qualified with victories Saturday.

In the Olympics, Lithuana, Nigeria, United States, Tunisia, France and Argentina will be facing each other in Group A. Russia, China, Britain, Brazil, Australia and Spain are in Group B.

Brazil 2012 Soccer Olympic Squad Revealed

Reports from Huffingtonpost.com today, July 9, 2012, said that Brazil Soccer coach Mano Menezes named the squad who will compete at the London 2012 Olympics. The squad features Thiago Silva, Marcelo and Hulk as Brazil’s three players over the age of 23. Previously, the Brazil men’s Olympic soccer team earned two silver medals and two bronze medals. Brazil won the silver medal at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles and 1988 Olympics in Seoul and the bronze medal at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and the 2008 games in Seoul.

This year’s squad is considered as the strongest ever. Brazilian football team hopes are pinned on the Olympics in the absence of positive results by the national team at the 2010 World Cup and the 2011 Copa America.

USA Basketball Team Roosters Announced With Schedule of Exhibition Games

The USA Basketball Association announces the final roster for 2012 Olympics, on Sunday, July 7, 2012 through their official website (nba.com). The announcement was made by NBA Chairman, Jerry Colangelo. The U.S. hoops roster is pending final approval by the U.S. Olympic Committee.

The Opening Ceremony will start on July 27, 2012 at 9:00 PM {London Time} , which is 1.5 hours delayed from the traditional 7:30 PM based on previous Olympics. Tony Parker is Cleared to play for France at Olympics

act tony parker Tony Parker is Cleared to play for France at OlympicsAccording to the News, Spurs guard Tony Parker can play for European runner-up France in the Olympic Games after San Antonio’s doctors give clearance that he has recovered from an eye injury. Parker had his injury when he scratched his left cornea during a nightclub melee in New York last month.

The French Basketball Federation announced on Friday, July 6, 2012, that the two ophthalmologists (from the Spurs) confirmed the opinion of the French doctor who operated on Tony Parker, and the two Swiss specialists who also examined the player last Thursday, and indicated that he can resume playing. It is also reported that Spurs coach Gregg Popovich gave his blessings to Parker.

Parker is joining the French squad in Orleans and he could play in a tune-up against England on Saturday, July 7, 2012.

France’s first game at the Olympics is against the United States on July 29.

“It is great news and a relief for the whole France team,” coach Vincent Collet said. “I spoke with Tony on the phone and he sounded very happy – and also relieved – about this development. It was a difficult and alarming situation for everyone.”

Parker scored 26 points for France when it lost last year’s European final 98-85 to Spain.

France will be missing Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah, who is still recovering from a left ankle injury he hurt during the NBA playoffs.
